BACKGROUND/HISTORY:
PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: n/a
PERSONALITY: Noctis, at his center, is a kind hearted person. His passivity can often be mistaken for laziness, but he clearly enjoys it when he's doing something that can help others. It isn't easy to start talking, but once he does, he wants to know more about other people, what they're doing, and how he can help. He doesn't automatically place himself on a high pedestal; he struggles with the idea that he is "more important" than the average person, and accepts people no matter their origins.

From helping people on the side of the road, establishing supply lines, helping researchers, and recovering lost tags from hunters fallen in battle, Noctis either offers or is asked to help people. Despite reluctance on some missions, he doesn't half-ass any job and instead commits fully to it, and never backs out despite ample opportunity to.

Noctis is definitely privileged and has a tendency to shut down under pressure. However, he begins coming into his own as a leader over time. He realizes although a leader bears the ultimate responsibility, they are also helped by all the people who inform and advise them. He seeks input from his retinue and other important figures about the future of Lucis. He carries himself with the same regal air as his father, and bases his decisions as a King on what he believes his father would have done, in order to achieve the greater good for his people.

Noctis is often described in his youth as more outgoing. After the attack, he's withdrawn and avoidant. He shows little interest in learning the politics of his city, or the issues affecting it. This wasn't helped by his father indulging his whims - possibly due to his fate. When Noctis is faced with difficult decisions, he oft chooses to back off or avoid them, especially if he is the one at fault. He struggles with ambiguous or muddled choices.

All the character building in the world can't exactly change that Noctis was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth; Noctis tends to not consider how his actions affect others. This can be as simple as not picking up after himself because he's used to someone being there to do it for him, to as dire as not considering the dangers of a potential attack. He is beginning to clue into how his choices can create additional danger and how they affect others, however.

When pressed into a corner, Noctis tends to double down. This is part of what makes him withdrawn - if he messes up, it's on him and he has to live with the results. He finds it hard to apologize for his mistakes and to people that he's hurt. Learning from said mistakes is difficult, since he's unwilling to confront them. Even when he acknowledges his guilt and responsibility, it tends to be internally - leaving people without apologies and to view his stubborn reluctance as spite.

SUITABILITY:
ABILITIES/SKILLS: Noctis' magic draws on a magical well of energy that regenerates over time. It means he has an upper limit, and big spells wipe out his reserves all at once.

INHERENT:
- Casts spells by gathering elemental energy together (ice, fire or lightning) in a "grenade' form that can be shared. In roleplay, it takes some time to create and cast.
- By throwing a weapon, he can 'teleport' to it, jumping from where he was to where the weapon ends up. This uses energy and has a limited range.
- Noctis can 'phase' through attacks, dodging using his magic. He has to be able to see and anticipate the attack coming in order to do this.
- By infusing drinks with his magic, he makes them become curative items. RP limit: the item he's infusing has to have some kind of sugar or carb to hold the magic. He can't bring anyone back from the dead this way and can only mitigate major damage.

ARMIGER:
- Noctis is basically a bag of holding. Infusing items with magical power, he makes it so they can be stored indefinitely in a transdimensional space. There appears to be no upper limit in game of how much he can store. Anyone that Noctis forges a personal mystical connection with can summon the items from the void or store other items in it. His armiger in Ethyraia would start empty. (I am willing to remove the ability entirely, or limit the amount of items that can be stored to a max of like 10. I can also limit how many people Noctis can have the connection with - 3, since that's how many people he has in the video game).

- Armiger chain. Noctis has the ability to use the previous King's weapons in battle. He can no longer individually summon their weapons; he can temporarily empower himself to do more damage, and while doing so, can summon spectral versions of the weapons for others to use. This is a short term ability, as using it drains him rapidly.

RING OF THE LUCII:

Noctis can cast three specific spells when wearing the Ring. Noctis hasn't had a chance to absorb the power of the Crystal, so using the ring is difficult for him.

- Death: a debuff applied over time to a target wrapped in miasma, with a chance to instantly kill it once they take enough damage. As this ability doesn't work on all enemies, in an RP environment, it would fail without player or mod permission.

- Holy: a counter spell, used when Noctis dodges out of the way of an attack. It throws up a blinding radiant light in a small radius, especially deadly to undead.

- Alterna: a spell that breaks open the fabric of reality, banishing any enemies within range. The spell has a high chance to fail, even higher than Death. It costs all of Noctis' energy to cast. I'm okay removing this spell entirely if needed; Noctis would pretty much save it for very dangerous situations.
